surprise season 2

Told you! It ws gonna be my turn!

A new bag! Yay! The first one he bought without being told, bribed, threatened or scolded. The first one he bought on his sole proviso!

Love it!

Kate, Louis, say hello to your new sibling, Raya.. (actually that would be Raya version 7.8. I have tons of them, different colours and sizes, collected over the years of staying in Krungthep.)

The 80s shop

Today we went to a shop which supposedly sells clothes from Korea and japan at very cheap prices. As usual, when there is a bargain to be found, it has to be hidden at some obscure places. We found it, nonetheless, climbed up a flight of stairs and to our disappointment saw clothes that befit Queen Elizabeth and well, maybe Anita Mui.

We giggled ourselves silly pointing out the gaudy purple dress with shoulder pads the size of my padded bra, which I assure you, ahem, is gargantuan. But we sensitively turned off our giggly mode when the old lady who runs the shop was nearby lest she be offended. She enthusiastically showed us around suggesting certain styles for us. My friend even politely obliged to try on a tweed skirt, which I must say will look kinda cute with argyle knee length socks. But only if you are 18. And stay in London.

We hung around a little longer cos we just didn't want to offend the sweet old lady. As we left, I even lied that I will tell my friends about her place. My friend chipped in that we'd love to stay longer to slowly browse through her stocks but not today. Another day, alright?

Some people call it vintage.

But sorry, it was just plain old fashion to us.

We went back into the car, and kicked our friend's ass for bringing us to such a fruitless place. It was a fun girls day out. Sans the kids. Just like the old times.

Goolymama got a pat yo...

This afternoon while having lunch, an elderly couple came to sit with us. Being a magnet for old folks, Gooly, as usual, got their attention and started discussing about Ben 10 characters (of all topics, Ben 10 isn't exactly his forte! C'mon, he could have impressed them with his knowledge of the Freudian Theory.)

The por-por was seriously very ill-informed of the latest trend. She doesn't know what/who is Ben 10. And was slightly aghast at the sight of the hideous monstrous looking characters that Ben could turn into. But she was polite enough not to tell me off for letting Gooly watch that cartoon.

Well, the fact is I don't cos we don't have Astro (is Ben 10 still showing? *shrug*).

She wondered then when she can catch the cartoon and on which channel. Only then I let the cat out of the bag - that Gooly knows about the characters through the coloring book which he was coloring, not through TV.

Oh, she was so pleased to hear that. (Maybe she muttered a silent 'thank god!" too.) She complimented me on my parenting skill (teehee! Little does she know about my infamous 'cactus' threat).

As she was leaving, she gave me a pat on the back and said, "You raised your child well."

Ahhh.... that was nice.

So I decided to pay forward some compliments. I saw a toddler, and told her mom, "He is so kewt!!!"

And I am still in the 'giving compliment' mood. Come see me, I'll throw in some nice pats on your back! ;)

Sweet stuff

Yesterday was the last day of school for Gooly. And he came back with this shell figurine given by his classmate. Apparently everyone got one each.

Nak letak mana
nie? Yuk shuen mou? Koi wui.... yuen wong..!!

The funny thing was, when we removed it from the transparent sheet, Gooly went, "WOOOOWW!!" like it was the nicest thing he ever gotten. Aparah!!

****

Ada didn't bring her bicycle down yesterday. So Gooly volunteered to give her ride. She clambered on the back seat, not sure where to put her hands. Her mom suggested around Gooly's waist. She put them lightly at the side of his waist.. very shyly.

And then..and then.. Gooly took her hands and wrapped them tightly around his waist!! *gasp* My son!! Kaolui jor!! Just before he pedalled away, he said, "Hold on tight, Ada.."

Kekekkekeke! Gosh! It was just so funny to watch.

We, moms were not able to conceal our mirth. Ada's mom pretended to spread flower petals on the pathway, ala dayang dayang. Meanwhile, I suggested that I keep a look-out on Ada's dad. Knowing that he is protective over his daughter, we wouldn't want him to witness his precious' first date at 5 - an age he will definitely find too young!!

Having a relationship at 5 is so simple and innocent - bicycle rides and ice cream treats. It must be nice. :)

:-)

Last Friday, I started the morning with a meaningless discussion with the "Muvi King" on the movie "Jennifer's Body" which put me in a jolly good mood.

Despite it being Friday the 13th, another thing happened that put another smile on my face.

Thnx so much for the books. Sorry I only saw them today cos I wasn't here yesterday. The kids made something for you to say thank you!

I received that message on FB.

You see, I asked the teacher to help make some Christmas cards for a charity drive. The kids in her class did a marvelous job with the cutest snowmen and pine trees. As a gesture of appreciation, I sent over some pre-loved books to be placed at the corner of the classroom. And whadaya know.. the kindness bounces back with a nice card that warms my heart.

And also, not too long ago, I went into a bag shop and found out that the amicable owner shares the same name as me. I left without buying anything as the bags were pricey. I did leave my number with her though. And she called me one fine day, informing me that a key chain has been made for me. How strange (in a nice way)!

Anyways, I was just nearby yesterday, and decided to pop in to say Hi, not sure if she still remembers me. Well, she does...and she actually kept the key chain for me. A bling bling key chain with the word C.O.A.C.H. Not authentically Coach of course. But who is complaining? It's very very very bling and cute! I will snap a pic of it one of these days..

Alas I didn't buy anything again. I was poor the first time, and poorer the second. But she was still nice to me. And even thanked me for coming by.

I was so happy that I went on to buy two pairs of shoes. (Totally not related, eh?) :P

How was your weekend? Another is coming! Yay!
